Real Madrid Club de Fútbol (Spanish pronunciation: [reˈal maˈðɾið ˈkluβ ðe ˈfuðβol]; Royal Madrid Football Club), commonly known as Real Madrid, or simply as Real, is a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain.

Founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club, the team has traditionally worn a white home kit since. The word Real is Spanish for Royal and was bestowed to the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem. The team has played its home matches in the 81,044-capacity Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in downtown Madrid since 1947. Unlike most European football clubs, Real Madrid's members (socios) have owned and operated the club since its inception.

The club is the most valuable sports team in the world, worth €2.5 billion ($3.4 billion) and the world's highest-earning football club for 2013–14, with an annual revenue of €549.5 million.^[6][7][8] The club is one of the most widely supported teams in the world.^[9] Real Madrid is one of three founding members of the Primera División that have never been relegated from the top division, along with Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona. The club holds many long-standing rivalries, most notably El Clásico with Barcelona and the El Derbi madrileño with Atlético Madrid.

FC Bayern Munich

The club was formed in 1900 when a number of football enthusiasts split from Münchner TurnVerein 1879 to escape the influence of the club's gymnasts, who did not hold a great enthusiasm for the new game – an attitude typical of the times. Almost from the start, Bayern was a strong local side, but failed to have much of an impact beyond that.

For financial reasons, and to take advantage of better facilities held by other clubs, they twice entered into mergers. In 1906, they negotiated a union with Münchner Sport Club. As part of the arrangement, the footballers gave up black as one of their team colours and adopted the red of their new partners, which they wear to this day. Bayern won their first title, as champions of the Bavarian league, in 1909 as a department of MSC. In 1919, shortly after World War I, Bayern left MSC, whose focus turned to field hockey and tennis, sports they are still active in today. Bayern then joined forces with Turn- und Sportverein 1890 Jahn München until leaving that club in 1923, and have remained independent ever since.

Juventus F.C.

The Old Lady - La Vecchia Signora - of Italian football was founded in 1897 and originally wore pink shirts. The club became the Bianconeri after adopting NottsCounty’s black and white colours in 1903, winning their first championship two years later. The Turin club notched five consecutive titles from 1931-35 and dominated Italian World Cup squads in 1934, ’38, ’78 and ’82.

Before the Calciopoli scandal struck in the summer of 2006, Juventus had never been relegated from Serie A and were the most successful side in Italy with 29 championships, nine Italian Cups, two European Cups, three UEFA Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, two European Super Cups, four Italian Super Cups and a Cup-Winners Cup. Two of those Serie A titles were stripped and demotion ordered.

With the so-called Triade of directors dismissed, a new board was appointed. And despite a mass exodus of star players, Juventus won the Serie B title at the first attempt and finished third in Serie A on their return to the top flight. They won their first post-scandal Scudetto in 2012 and confirmed their return to dominance by winning the next two championships – the latter secured with a record points total.
